About

The Nebraska One Health program has the honor of hosting the website for INETS, an international network for environmental toxoplasma studies.

INETS was established in 2019 following the Inaugural Environmental Toxoplasmosis Workshop to connect and share information among an international network of students, postdocs, and established researchers with the goal of enhancing research on the environmental transmission of the zoonotic parasite, Toxoplasma gondii. Our mission is to integrate efforts and connect scientists who are invested in advancing knowledge on Toxoplasma oocysts and transmission dynamics that shape the epidemiology of toxoplasmosis. We represent a global effort dedicated to characterizing oocyst biology and parasite ecology that will inform intervention strategies for the control and prevention of toxoplasmosis in humans and animals. The growing INETS community will start hosting quarterly webinars in Fall 2022 and provide online resources to enhance research and outreach on the environmental transmission of Toxoplasma. Educational outreach programs will be tailored for scientists, but also for target vulnerable populations and relevant stakeholders, including producers and consumers of fresh produce and shellfish, livestock farmers, pregnant women, immunocompromised individuals, children, veterinarians, medical doctors, and others.

We invite you to join our listserv and follow us on Instagram and Facebook to stay tuned for more updates on Toxoplasma oocysts and toxoplasmosis at the human-animal-environment interface!
