Overview/Symptoms

  • Transmitted through the bite of an infected American Dog Tick
  • Symptoms of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF) in humans include a spotted rash and sometimes nausea, vomiting, severe headache, muscle pain and lack of appetite
  • Dogs may experiences symptoms of: depression, lethargy, anorexia, blood in the urine, irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia), purple-ish colored spots along the skin, loss of coordination (ataxia), swelling or edema (fluid retention) in the limbs, swollen lymph nodes, and pain in the eyes
